“If you liked Million Dollar Quartet, you'll love SHAKE BABY SHAKE!"
says creator and star Lance Lipinsky of America’s hottest retro concert
attraction, Shake Baby Shake! In the aftermath of the Tony award winning Million Dollar Quartet's closing, fans can fortunately continue to see Lance and the infectious genre of early Rock music in his highly anticipated production of Shake Baby Shake.
Shake Baby Shake is the explosive retrospective stage show biography of the golden age of Rock & Roll.
Performing the hits of the major
artists of the 1950's & 60's, pumpin’ piano entertainer Lance Lipinsky
and his authentic showband
the Lovers, tell the story behind the music as the audience is encouraged
to dance and request songs in an interactive concert atmosphere.
- Richard Porter
You may remember Lance for his portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis in over 2000 performances in the Apollo Theater's Million Dollar Quartet. To answer every one's curiosity with his new show Shake Baby Shake, the answer is yes...
Don't worry, Lance will still sing Great Balls of Fire; and much more…
Preserving the original authentic sound of the music combined with high energy showmanship, Lance Lipinsky explores the melting pot of styles that created pop music's most innovative decade.
Half concert and half history lesson, fans of this Atomic era of music will hear the founding subgenres that contributed to the birth of the Rock & Roll sound in chronological order such as:
Rhythm & Blues, Country & Western, Rockabilly, Doo Wop, Surf, Soul & more.
Flat wound guitar strings, baritone sax, stand up bass, and delay echo reverb on the singer's vocals put the finishing details to restore the original sound.
With energetic showmanship to match, Shake Baby Shake takes pride in the look of the wardrobe and stage design to recreate the flash & glitz of the nostalgia.
Equipped with vintage microphones and chrome stands, the aesthetic continues in the wardrobe reminiscent of the uniformity of the sharkskin suited days.
Capturing the fine line between the innocence and danger of the late 50's and early 60's, the authenticity allows the audience to explore the romance and mystery of the era...
What made Elvis Presley shocking? Who was Big Joe Turner? What would it have been like to witness and hear real live Doo Wop harmony in it's original tone?

Also featuring the charming "Lovettes," the three dazzling young ladies honor the girl groups and major female artists of the decade such as the McGuire Sisters, Chordettes, Lavern Baker, Connie Francis, Ronettes, Shangri-Las, the Supremes, Etta James & more... Recently featured on the hit PBS Doo Wop Generations special, the Lovettes add harmony and show stopping choreography.
Front man Lipinsky has appeared on both the David Letterman Show and at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Recently he was featured in the new HBO series "Vinyl" directed by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese.
After headlining over 2000 action packed shows at the Apollo Theatre in the TONY award winning Broadway musical "Million Dollar Quartet," Lipinsky's debut album "Roll" was recorded in Memphis' historic Sun Studios using all original vintage analog equipment which can be heard at www.thelovers.com.
Although the 1950's jukebox musical formula has been exploited a thousand times, Shake Baby Shake is not your typical "stroll down memory lane" to the oldies but goodies. Not to be confused as a tribute or impersonator show, Lipinsky engages the audience as himself, narrating the biographical history behind the songs.
Regarded by fans, venues and critics in the industry, Shake Baby Shake maintains the integrity of the style by not selling out to the "over production" that existed in the past when associated with this genre. As live music in general becomes more of a lost art, Lipinsky's credentials alone speaks for his dedication to preserve this timeless art form as the recipient of the Ameripolitan Award in Austin, TX.
"Whether the group blasts the irresistible dance beat of
Bill Haley & the Comets or takes you on a surfing expedition with the Ventures, the magic of the time is alive."
